Hello,i am 13 years old and i love to play basketball, but when i play game with other people i am scared/nervous to try my best. Are there anyway to stop being scared/nervous? Also, are there any ways to improve my handles? Do i need to run a lot and practice dribble a lot to get better and faster or are there any drill to help me improve my handles? How to get better in basketball handles?
ayye dont worry bruh. u'll get over it. trust me, i'm in the same boat as u. but yea practice a lot, run, go to the gym, eat right, u know... stay fit/in shape. it helps. also, i get nervouse when i'm open for shooting the ball, and i normally just pass it because i'm scared that i wont make it. NEWS FLASH: not everybody makes the basket. thats why ur team mates are there to help you. no one is gonna yell at u if ur not the best player, trust me. im the worst player on the team, but i just keep smiling and laughing like i didnt just embarrass myself. (mostly because when im nervouse or shy, ill naturally start smiling and giggling. not so much like a freak... but nvm.) i didnt mean to write a novel here... but i hope i helped boost up ur confidence. PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT! and getting out of ur comfort zone is the best way to improve. hope i helped... can u please answer my basketball question in return? (:How to get better in basketball handles?
I can assure you that the scared/nervous feeling that you have will pass over time. When you get more experience that will go away. It is normal in the beginning to have that feeling, because we are not confidant in our basketball capacities and are afraid to do something wrong. But that will pass over time.
To improve your handles you need to do some specific ball handling drills. To be a good basketball player you need to know ho to dribble a basketball, and for that you need to practice. There are a lot of simple dribbling drills that you can do that will help you improve your ball handling skills. How to get better in basketball handles?
Ok so get a good basketball at home get some cones and dirbble through them like around the back. Also do carry it quickly around your back switching hands then try some layups . Its better to be better on ur inside game. Then work on your shooting for about 1 hour then do off land things like run and life weights.
Try to dribble like 5 hours a day, that why I got good at handling the ball but same as yours ,I was nervous.
If you are used to play with others( Opponents , Teammates ) you will lose you nervous, but if your problem are the crowds watching the game, we got the same problem
