You need to practice dribbling, jump shooting, and boxing out for rebounds.

If you are right handed tie it behind your back and dribble around cones with your left hand. Vice versa if you are a lefty. You want to be able to dribble to your opposite side so you are more versatile. Practice jump shooting by making sure you are square to the basket jump then release smooth. Make sure you box out for rebounding. What to practice before jv basketball try outs?
Definitely practice ball handling. No matter what height you are, if you can handle the ball well under pressure and can get to the hoop, you will always have a spot on the team. I would suggest practicing your ball handling as much as you can. Practice sprinting at the hoop while dribbling, then going up for a layup at a fast pace. Do this 20-30 times from one side of the hoop, then go in from the other side using your opposite hand. This drill teaches you to handle the ball while sprinting and also helps your layup skills.

Also, try dribbling back and forth between your hands for about 5 minutes. The closer your hands are to the ground when you dribble the harder the drill will be, so get them as close to the ground as you can when you do the drill. If you can look up a few moves to practice on youtube, those could also be helpful. Keep practicing and good luck! What to practice before jv basketball try outs?
