I understand why many fouls occur in basketball, but I'm still trying to wrap my head around the consequences:
1) When does a player get to take a free throw?
2) How is it determined when a player gets one free throw or two?
3) What's the difference between a personal foul and a team foul?
4) How many personal and team fouls does a player and team get?
5) If a player team is "over the foul limit", what does this mean, and what happens?
And any other help on the consequences of fouls would be great. What are the consequences for basketball fouls?
1: When fouled in the act of shooting or when a team commits foul when over the limit (See answer 5). You also get a free throw on a technical or flagrant foul.
2. By when and the type of foul. If it was when shooting and you miss the shot you get 2 or 3 (3 if it was a 3 point shot). If you make it you get 1. A technical foul grants 1 (usually from someone arguing with the ref) and a flagrant foul (doing something very dangerous or trying to hurt a player) gets 2 iirc.
3. Each player can have up to 6 fouls (6 and you're out of the game) a team can have as many as it's players can get total.
4. 6 for a player, teams are only limited by their number of players basically.
5. It means the team as a whole has committed over 5 fouls in the quarter or 2 or more in the last few minutes. It results in 2 free throws.
2 technical fouls on one player gets you ejected, 15 in a season gets you suspended. 2 Flagrants gets you ejected, 1 if it's bad enough. These also usually get you suspended. What are the consequences for basketball fouls?
1) when he gets fouled when shooting or doing a lay up
2) get fouled but still make one and you get one shot OR the other team has more than ten fouls TOTAL that half.
3)personal foul is like hitting someone on purpose or charging like full speed into them like your playing football. team foul is like a reach or a hold.
4) i think if u get a personal foul the player is out of the game. the team can have unlimted amount of fouls but a player can only get five. %26lt;--- answer to number 5
and if you get a personal foul the victim gets 2 free throws and their team gets the ball under the basket they are attacking.
